Shawl #4 - Graph shawl? Can I do it?
I wanted to start Jen's shawl this weekend but I want to try something a little different with it and would need a few more colors. I don't expect them to be exact but they should be as close as can be. I graphed the painting but it's more for a graphgan. So I have to figure out how to adjust it for the shawl, particularly using the pattern that I am using. Even though I have been crocheting for a while, I teeter between intermediate and expert. I think after doing each pattern ten times, with each I'll get better. Plus it helps me stay focused and not develop more wip's than completed projects.
Here is the grid. I figure if I work from the corners and count my rows on the diagonal I should be fine. I had to do a screen grab because it's in pdf form. If I did this as a graphgan it would be 46 x 62. That's pretty flicking dope. Each square is a single stitch. I suppose I could double crochet it. The pattern I am using actually calls for double crochet and starts from a corner basically. My gut says just print and fold the page as a triangle and just roll with it that way. lol. Don't even bother with the semantics of resizing and regraphing. It will surely be a task and I wonder if I can pull off a graph shawl because I have seen some amazing graphgans and they are no easy project. I'm excited to push myself to get to the point of wanting to attempt this.

Before I start this though, I am going to do a few color shawls from my colors that I pinned. Sort of like sketches or warm up drawings before the big painting.
I graphed a Frida Kahlo painting as well as two Basquiats. If everything goes well with Jen's, I will be engulfed in pride and try these while the iron is hot.
